 Frequently Asked Questions
  • Teller's just celebrated their 15th Anniversary and the Vault Party has been around for almost that length of time. Can you remember life before the Vault door officially opened?
No. I have no memories before the Vault Party.

  • May I bring a guest?
Well, certainly. The more the merrier. Just make sure they bring a valid passport, birth certificate, or photo ID.

  • Exactly where is Teller's of Hyde Park Square?
You just answered your own question, Sherlock.

  • Will there be any celebrity guests attending this year?
Natalie Portman had originally expressed some interest. But I told her she had to bring R2-D2 and we suddenly got disconnected. Very odd.

  • What about the Turkey Trot the next day? Who in their right mind schedules a party the night before a 10k race?
Oops! Sorry - that's two questions. Next caller.

  • Does the Vault Party have a Facebook Page?
Perhaps. Because you know what they say, "A Facebook friend is a stranger that you haven't met yet."

  • I'm sure people know about the Vault Party, by now. Is a website really necessary?
Well, I guess not. But, if I didn't have a website, how would I be able to avoid answering your question?

  • Before Mount Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain on Earth?
    Umm.........Mount Everest?

  • So, are there any surprises in store for us this year?
I can't give away anything, but I will say that if you've heard any of the rumors about dancing penguins or an elephant - you're on the right track.

  • Oussmane's Cab - (859) 992-9028
Thanks, Alex. I'd like to go with "What Do You Do With a Drunken Sailor?" for $200.

  • Where does all the sand in the Sahara desert come from?
I get this question allot: Sand is actually made up of tiny fragments of rock. When the rock wears down, you get smaller bits of rock, or pebbles, and when they wear down you get even smaller bits and eventually you get down to sand, or silica. The reason it ends up washing up on the beach is that the sea or wind can move sand around very easily while rocks are more likely to stay put. This separates things by size, and the sand ends up on the beach and the rocks end up on the seabed. There were lots of sand stones in the Sahara which have weathered and broken down over time from rain, and sun and wind. This has produced accumulations of sand which have built up over time to produce this massive desert. Rocks are made up of lots of different things other than silica, or quartz. But the silica is the toughest material which is why it gets left over after a lots of weathering, when everything else has dissolved or turned to dust. Happy now?

  • What did the snail say while riding on the turtle's back?
    Waaaahoooooo!!!!!!

  • Are there going to be any major changes to the format this year?
I'm all about change. The world has been asking for change and I'm going to give it to them. In fact, you can go to my website and look up all my proposed plans for...........oh wait - never mind.

  • How much does it usually cost to rent out the Vault Room of Teller's?
Lot's of money......thousands and thousands of dollars. No wait.....Gold! The last couple of years they've asked me for Gold.....and precious gems. Why? What have they told you?

  • Is there going to be valet parking?
Yeah, they seem to have it down to a science this year. What they're going to do is block all of the parking spots in the Square with orange cones. And then, they plan to park the cars in the driveways of neighboring Hyde Park residents. I think it should work out nicely.

  • I seem to recall you having one or two co-hosts back when this party first started. Any of them coming back to celebrate the occasion?
I'm still holding out for Kelly Ripa to come back and co-host.

  • I noticed in your pictures from a few years ago, you are wearing a vest with some sort of reflective material. Are you going to wear that again?
Thanks for noticing. The answer is no - unless I decide to jog home after the event.

  • So, is this the last Vault Party or will we see it go another 14 years?
Yes and No. I can't give away any plot details - but the plan is to go back in time and do Vault Party Prequels. I auditioned to play the younger version of myself - but I think they're giving the role to Shia LeBeouf. They did, however, promise that I could be my own stunt double.
